Starting Point
The architectural firm W2H Architekten has built 56 urban rental apartments and 8 studios on the site of the former model joinery of the Wifag machine factory in Bern. The new courtyard is the heart of the development, to which the balconies are also aligned. For these, the task was to find a textile solution as sun protection.
Solution
Instead of sun blinds, outdoor curtains were chosen for the balconies here. These offer high flexibility in terms of placement depending on the position of the sun to protect against annoying glare. Outdoor Nevada is durable, water repellent and resistant to dirt and mildew, making it an excellent textile solution for outdoor use. Since the curtain fabrics are a defining element of outdoor areas, they were manufactured here in a special width and, thanks to the selected color tone, fit in perfectly with the design concept.
